Supporting Those Who Support Our Community
Providing quality services in a remote community isn't always easy. Many organisations supporting Roxby Downs operate on a fly-in, fly-out basis or travel regularly from regional centres. Without a welcoming, professional and accessible base, delivering consistent services and building meaningful community relationships can be difficult.
The Roxby Downs Community Hub has become much more than a venue. It provides local and visiting organisations with a trusted place to meet clients, collaborate with other services and become part of the community they support.
Over the past year, the Hub has partnered with organisations including Lift Health Group, The Benevolent Society, Uni Hub Spencer Gulf, Regional Development Australia, Department of Human Services, Roxby Downs Council and many others. These partnerships have enabled organisations to deliver services, host workshops, connect with local residents and respond more effectively to community needs.
One partner described the Hub as "instrumental in allowing us to conduct sessions that are unable to be held in the home environment or at schools," while another said "our FIFO work would look very different without them."
Beyond providing a physical space, the Community Hub actively promotes partner services, connects organisations with one another and introduces them to community members who may otherwise never access support. This collaborative approach strengthens relationships, improves service coordination and helps ensure people living in Roxby Downs can access the services they need, close to home.
The Community Hub demonstrates that meaningful community impact isn't always about delivering every service ourselves. Sometimes, the greatest impact comes from helping others do their work better.
