Family Hub Programs

Our Family Hub Coordinator provides information and programs to support the wellbeing and resilience of parents, carers, and children in our community. At the Community Hub we focus on building capacity, coaching, training, and the provision of evidence-based programs such as Circle of Security and Tuning into Kids. We also have a book club which includes parenting and wellbeing support resources.

Tuning in to Kids Program – Emotionally Intelligent Parenting

This evidence-based program for parents, carers and early childhood educators was designed by child psychologists from the University of Melbourne and is focused on teaching parents the skills of emotion coaching. This program increases the emotional literacy of both adults and children, supporting parent-child relationships with emotion coaching skills based on decades of research on relationships by the Gottman Institute. We will be launching two levels:

  • Tuning in to Kids - a 6-week group program for parents. It can help you to teach your child the skills of emotional intelligence.

  • Tuning in to Teens - the goal in this 6 session program is to help parents better understand and manage their own emotions, facilitating healthy emotional communication in the family where the teen can learn to understand and express emotions adaptively.

Circle of Security Parenting

This evidence-based 8-week program for parents, carers and early childhood educators is an internationally renowned program informed by decades of attachment theory research. Using a simple graphic to help explain the behaviour of babies, toddlers and children, this program supports adults to recognise the needs being communicated.
